ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟੂਡੇ (Punjab Today NEWS CA) ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹੈ,ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕੇਨੈਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਆਪਦੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ,2011 ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਅਖਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਈ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਵੀਂ ਸੀ। ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀਂ ਕਾਰਜ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਸਹੀ ਸੋਚ,ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਪਲਾਨ ਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਵਿੰਨੀਪੈਂਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਦੇ ਸਮੂੱਚੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਟੂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।ਮੈਂ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਿਸ ਮਦਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੌਫੈਸਨਲਜ਼ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਤੋਰ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੇਕਟ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ,ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟੂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਿਜੀ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਵੀਂ ਸੀ।
ਮੈਂਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਜਰਨਲਿਜਮ ਤੇ ਪਾਸ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਕੇਸ਼ਨਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਸਟਰ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ੳਰਸਤ “ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਟਾਈਮਜ” ਤੇ “ਦਿ ਟਿਬੂਓਨ” ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰੀਬ 7 ਸਾਲ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਿਤਾ ਕੀਤਾ।ਉਸ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਂਸਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਵੀਂ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੂੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਵੀਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜ ਵੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ,ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟੂਡੇ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਸਫਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਨਿੰਰਤਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟੂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਆਨਲਾਇਨ ਵੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟੂਡੇ ਦੀ ਵੈਬਸਾਈਟ ਲਾਂਚ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੱਜਨਾ ਦਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
When this newspaper was started, there were many ideas in the mind and the aim was to introduce the culture to the new generation. Any task requires sound thinking, sound planning and financial support. Today, I can honestly say that the entire Punjabi community in Winnipeg gave Punjabi Today a lot of love and respect.I would like to thank all the business professionals and advertising professionals who have supported this project financially. Starting Punjab Today was my personal dream.
I did a Masters Degree in Journalism and Pass Communications from Punjabi University, and worked for the Hindustan Times and The Tribune for about 7 years. That experience encouraged me to keep my profession alive on Canadian soil. And by connecting with the Punjabi mother tongue, I can connect the new generation with its culture and heritage.
